Silke Vandenbroeck and Josje Pot
"We are Silke Vandenbroeck and Josje Pot, students of Cultural Anthropology at Utrecht University, the Netherlands. For our bachelor thesis, we are researching how the American media influences the identity of young adult Muslims in NYC. Volunteering for ASMA provides us with insightful information regarding this topic. Together with Daisy Khan, executive director of ASMA, we are also composing a report about the negative depiction of Muslims in the media."

Interfaith Seder at Brotherhood Synagogue
Sabeeha Rehman with Rabbi Daniel Alder and Cantor Michael Weiss
March 13, 2013. As all faiths came together to commemorate the exodus, Sabeeha Rehman related the story of Prophet Muhammad’s Hijra (emigration) from Mecca to Medina, and closed by reading Quranic verses on the exodus of Moses and his followers. For many in the gathering, it was the first time they heard quranic verses about Moses – and was a unifying moment. We are thankful to the Brotherhood Synagogue for making this happen.
