THE SUFIS, by Idries Shah
This and THE WAY OF THE SUFI were Idries Shah's first two excellent books that introduce the reader to Sufism through the writings of great Sufi masters.
THE MATHNAWI, by Jalaluddin Rumi.
This is the famous and classic work of six books, translated by R.J. Nicholson, who was Arberry's professor and predecessor at Cambridge University. It is published in three volumes. There are a number of simplified versions of these, including some by Arberry and William Chittick. See next two titles.
THE SUFI PATH OF LOVE, by William Chittick. Any of these works make an excellent introduction to the inner of Sufism. Also Chittick's new book:
