Abigail Disney and Gini Reticker’s new film “Pray the Devil Back to Hell” at Tribeca Film Festival

“Pray the Devil Back to Hell” is a riveting, must-see film that is at once beautiful and inspiring. It tells the story of Liberian Muslim and Christian women coming together in courageous opposition to former Liberian President Charles Taylor and in support of Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Africa’s first female head-of-state. These women struggle together for peace and stability in their war-torn homeland, presenting a profound example of women across religious lines uniting around justice and creating societal change.

Doha Debates: Extremism Study Results

Some of you may have seen the Doha Debates on March 3rd, 2008 on which Muslims debated extremism. As a follow up, BBC conducted a poll of countries in the GCC, Levant, and North Africa. The results are illuminating and eye opening. For instance, 56% Muslims in these countries define extremism as intolerance of others holding different religious views. The poll will take five minutes to review. Please feel free to forward this to others who may be interested. >> see results (pdf)

Pope Benedict's recent baptism of a well-known Italian Muslim has prompted criticism in much of the Islamic world. Has Benedict done enough to build bridges to Islam?

While Pope Benedict has consistently signaled his desire to extend a hand of respect and dialogue to the Muslim community, he has routinely acted without caution, thus impairing the bridge-building work of innumerable Catholics and Muslims. >>continue
